About VCu

VCu Education Solutions helps families, schools, districts, and agencies make literacy and learning more accessible. Our work begins with a simple belief: difficulty does not mean inability.

Founded by instructional specialist and reading interventionist Shalott Hazzard, VCu brings together literacy instruction, language processing, memory supports, movement, and structured learning routines. We look beneath visible difficulty to identify where access may be breaking down and build a strategic path toward meaningful progress.

I believe every child is amazing. Every child has the capacity to grow. My work is to reduce learning stress and build access so children begin to trust themselves as learners. I want the scholar in every child to be revealed—the inquisitive person who asks questions, takes intellectual risks, and becomes comfortable with learning. For some children, that means changing a long history of struggle. For others, it means giving them the right start.
